When our daughter, Caroline was born, we were immediately put on a schedule. The doctors wanted to make sure she gained enough weight, since she was born at 37 weeks.
I’d looked at the ideas of using baby schedules prior to this, and had been very intrigued by it.
I was, however, slightly concerned about having supply issues, since I was breastfeeding. Everything I read indicated that I needed to feed on demand, if I was going to be successful at breastfeeding.
Regardless, we trusted the doctors and went with the schedule. My instinct said to run with it and keep it going.
Why the Printable Baby Schedule was Born
After searching on Pinterest for baby schedules, I eventually ran into the term “Babywise“. I immediately bought the book.
Everything about this book made logical sense to me and my husband. And so, we stuck to it.
It wasn’t easy, however. The first three months were a blur.
The schedule was hard to stick to, because she wasn’t napping long enough.
She’d finally master a schedule, and then her needs would change, and a schedule change was in order.
I was writing down all of my observations on her wake time lengths, time feeding on each breast, napping habits, diaper changes, and more.
It was exhausting.
And, all of those notes were happening on a tiny little notebook that I kept by my nursing station.
It was unorganized and hard to keep up with.
By the time Caroline turned 3 months old, she was on a great schedule, and by 4 months we were comfortable and loving the schedules so much.
A couple of months later, I was so in love with how positively the schedules had impacted our lives, that I started my blog- Mama’s Organized Chaos. The first thing I put on the blog were Caroline’s schedules!
I wanted to remember them for our next child, and I wanted to share the schedules that worked for us with other parents that might be searching.
Almost an entire year later, I decided to put together a simple and easy Printable Baby Schedule. I create this printable mostly for the new mom that is trying to sort everything out and might be feeling overwhelmed.
It’s an all in one sheet to use for tracking purposes. No more scribbles on notebooks- this has a place for everything!
And so, the Printable Baby Schedule was born!
